OUR PLATFORM
The Borough is facing big issues and tests. We need fresh perspectives that focus on:
- Visionary, practical leadership
- An engaged, informed community
- A non-partisan, solutions-focused Council
Dan and Mark bring the experience and mindset we need. With proven project and organizational management experience, they offer steady and thoughtful leadership. Their ability to communicate complex issues in an even-handed, understandable, and relatable way make them a trusted voice for all Mendham residents.
Their platform is:
- No More Surprise Politics: Residents need advance notice and plain-English education on important issues facing the community, access to relevant information, and a chance to voice concerns in advance of any Council vote.
- Proactively plan to meet affordable housing mandate: Revisit impact of all the proposed developments and proactively find a way to meet the mandate without changing the character of the town and potentially doubling our population.
- We sweat the small stuff: The professionals that are employed by the Borough (legal team, engineer, and planners) are valued advisors, but the council and community set the priorities and stay on top of the details. As council members, we pledge to be true liaisons between our advisors and residents.
- Future-minded/Forward-thinking Planning and Leadership: Shift from the present crisis management mode to proactive government. Residents’ concerns will guide our agenda from day one.
- Stream Council Meetings: After six years of advocating for this, Council Meetings are about to be streamed live and available to residents for viewing on demand on Mendham TV. We propose posting this on the Borough website as well. We are committed to transforming the way our Council interacts with the community to ensure accountability and openness in every decision.
This campaign is about you —your concerns, your aspirations, and your vision for our community's future. We invite you to join us, attend meetings, and share your ideas. Together, we can build a town that works for all of us. But first, we urge you to learn about us and what we can do for you. We urge you to reach out directly to either of us–via email, by phone or via FB message–and share your concerns. If you agree that Mendham needs more proactive, future-thinking, communicative leadership, please be sure to vote for Mark and Dan and tell your friends and neighbors why this election is important to them too!

MARK
VAN DEN HENDE
Mark van den Hende
Throughout his career, Mark has managed major infrastructure and environmental projects that required balancing budgets, navigating regulations, negotiating contracts, and coordinating teams with different priorities. Those same skills—careful planning, listening, and finding common ground—are ones he will bring to Borough Council.
Mark is running for Borough Council because he values the nature-rich environment and close-knit community that first drew him and his wife to raise their twins in Mendham more than 16 years ago, and he believes his business experience and skills can help Mendham meet its current challenges and create a sustainable future.
Worried about the effect on the quality of life and the environment of some of the potential developments he was hearing about, Mark began regularly attending Borough Council and Joint Land Use Board meetings a few years ago. He often adds insightful questions and information to the discussion. .
His input is based on real-world experience. With more than 35 years of leading complex large-scale engineering and commercial projects and ensuring compliance with environmental and other regulatory requirements, Mark is an expert in weighing competing priorities to find solutions that work for everyone. Now, he’d like to contribute his expertise more directly as a Council member.
Throughout his career, Mark has managed huge infrastructure and environmental projects that required negotiating and reviewing contracts, navigating complex regulations, and coordinating teams with divergent priorities. He knows how to patiently decode the fine print of a contract. He understands the importance of clear, open, honest communication and gathering information from all concerned as a basis for finding common ground and making good decisions. Those same skills—careful planning, listening, and finding common ground—are ones he will bring to Borough Council.
Mark, who has experience as a Commercial Manager, Project Manager, and Lead Engineer, currently works as a commercial manager providing environmental control systems to the power, industrial, and paper & pulp industries. He has an Engineering degree from Lehigh University and an MBA from Rutgers Business School. It’s a great background for our current challenges.

DAN
SCHREIBMAN
Dan Schreibman
Dan has spent his career helping organizations make better decisions. As an executive coach, management consultant, and business leader for more than 25 years, he has worked with organizations ranging from entrepreneurial companies to Fortune 500 corporations. Whether helping leadership teams navigate difficult decisions or guiding organizations through change, he has learned that the best solutions emerge when people listen to one another, examine the facts, and work toward common ground.
Dan is running for Borough Council because he believes Mendham's future depends on thoughtful leadership that respects the town's past while preparing responsibly for what's ahead. He believes good leadership begins with listening.
Dan also brings the perspective of a small business owner. As founder and CEO of Free Play, a company that designs and manufactures innovative commercial playgrounds, he understands the importance of responsible budgeting, long-term planning, and finding practical solutions to complex challenges.
Throughout his career, Dan has helped organizations make better decisions.
That philosophy shapes Dan’s approach to public service. He believes local government works best when it is transparent, collaborative, and grounded in facts rather than politics. Residents deserve to be heard, differing viewpoints deserve to be respected, and decisions should be guided by careful analysis and the long-term interests of the community.
As Mendham faces important questions about development, infrastructure, and future growth, Dan believes every decision should be evaluated through the lens of its impact on residents' daily lives. That means carefully considering effects on schools, traffic, municipal services, the environment, and the character of the Borough at every step.
Having served for six years on the Mendham Borough Library Board of Trustees, Dan has a demonstrated commitment to public service, and he is eager to continue giving back to the community that has given so much to his family. He is committed to collaborative leadership, careful stewardship, fiscal responsibility, and helping ensure that Mendham remains the kind of town residents are proud to call home—for today's families and for generations to come.
For 26 years, Dan Schreibman has been proud to call Mendham Borough home. He and his wife, Dr. Katie Jones, raised their two daughters here and have long appreciated the qualities that make Mendham special—its natural beauty, historic character, outstanding schools, and strong sense of community. He views the fact that many families have been in Mendham for multiple generations as a sign of how special the town is.
